Sar Sokha and the New Ambassador of Malaysia Discuss Joint Efforts to Tackle Global Transnational Crime

Phnom Penh – Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, met with Shaharuddin Bin Onn, the new Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia, to discuss collaborative efforts in combatting transnational organized crime. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Interior on the afternoon of November 12, 2024.

During the discussion, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha emphasized the need for both Cambodia and Malaysia to consider establishing a Memorandum of Understanding on Security. He encouraged the exchange of experiences between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries to strengthen their capabilities in addressing the high levels of global transnational crime currently affecting society.

The Malaysian Ambassador, Abhisit Bandith, expressed gratitude for Cambodia's continuous engagement in enhancing relations between the two nations and highlighted the importance of cooperation in various fields, particularly in combating crime, trade, investment, and tourism.

Ambassador Shaharuddin Bin Onn praised the visits of the top leaders of both countries and thanked the Cambodian side for providing a welcoming environment for Malaysian citizens living in Cambodia. Both sides expressed their hope that through their strong relationship and cooperation, Cambodia and Malaysia would continue to make progress that benefits their peoples.
